Once again, I worked with the wonderful folks at Miblart to bring to life the cover of the prequel to the Chronicles of Chaos: The Game of War.
This book tells the story of a young Dantess becoming the priest of War that we know in the Child of Chaos, and the cover image depicts the then-high priest, Morghaust, activating War’s test. The test, along with the actual Game of War, are my two favorite parts of the book–which makes sense, given that I got to exercise my game design talents to create them,
Along with this cover, I’m also announcing that the book will be released on Sunday, August 29, 2021. You can preorder the ebook from Amazon, or preorder a signed version of the hardback or soft cover from the Mysterium Merchandise Store.
On release day, I hope to have all formats available, including audiobook. In fact, I just wrapped recording and I’m deep into editing (which will be a bear to complete before then, but I’m working hard).
Here’s the blurb to whet your appetite.
———-
Never meet your heroes—especially if they’re dead.
Years before the Child of Chaos makes their fateful choice, young Dantess faces his own reckoning.
Dantess wants to follow in the footsteps of his dead grandfather—a legendary priest of War—but his father forbids it. In fact, his father’s hatred of War lands him in a cell within the god’s temple.
The only way to free him is from the inside, so Dantess must choose: let his father die or defy his upbringing, become a priest, and win his father’s freedom in the temple’s deadly Game of War.
Torn between the legacies of his father and grandfather, Dantess finds that both paths hide secrets that threaten to destroy everything he cares about, including his sanity.
Dantess must decide who he wants to be—but if he’s wrong, everyone will pay the price.
The Game of War is the prequel to the acclaimed debut novel, the Child of Chaos.
