The Chronicles of Chaos is now complete!

25 years ago, the evening before I was to pitch the Wheel of Time game to Activision, they let me know they liked the game, but didn’t want the license. They wanted me to come up with an alternative premise. Well, we made the Wheel of Time game through GT, but that premise stuck with me—because it didn’t actually want to be a game, it wanted to be a novel.

That novel would become the Child of Chaos, the first book in the Chronicles of Chaos.

On Tuesday, February 27, I released the Realm of Gods into the world, thus bringing my YA fantasy series to its conclusion.

I can’t really describe this feeling. When I started writing, I had no idea if I’d ever finish one book, much less four.

I’m incredibly proud of this story, the world, and the characters—and the thought of sharing this journey with you is what kept me going. For those who experienced my work, thank you for your time and trust. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did writing it for you.

As you’ll see in the author’s note at the end of the Realm of Gods, I’m not exactly sure what I’ll move onto. My initial guess is a reader magnet (a shorter story, available for free, intended to attract new readers to the series), but after that, I’m not sure.

Hopefully, I’ll be too busy with all of the launch events to worry about it too much—and I’m really looking forward to those. Nothing is better than meeting fans and new readers (especially families) who are excited about my work. And now I have something new to give them.

In my eyes, it’s my best work yet. I hope you’ll agree. In fact, reviews from people who made this journey with me are already appearing, and readers seem to love the conclusion, comparing the series to heavyweights in the genre. I can but hope the larger readership will agree.

Here are some snippets from some of those reviews.

★★★★★ “With a mix of dark worldbuilding and charming characters, this final installment is full of twists and reveals that kept me on edge to the very last page. Realm of Gods is a fantastic end to an imaginative series. I hope this isn’t the last we see of this world!”—Samantha Cook, award-winning author of The Clearing

★★★★★ “The Realm of the Gods is a real nail-biter. The action is fast-paced, exciting, and just when I would think I knew where the story was going, Dahlgren would throw a perfect twist that kept the story fresh and original. It was an excellent resolution to the series, except that I wanted MORE and wanted it NOW!“—Christy Marx, award-winning writer of Conan, Red Sonja, and Elfquest

★★★★★ “Glen Dahlgren has hit it out of the known universe with The Realm of Gods, his emotion-packed finale to The Chronicles of Chaos. Dahlgren not only did not disappoint, but he gave much, much more than I ever expected. I found the whole series captivating on the level of greats such as The Wheel of Time, The Lord of the Rings, and, more recently, The Witcher. This series will be a collector’s set with the other great minds who took fantasy one step further. It is a classic in the making with characters that will stand the test of time.“—Diane Kane, award-winning author of I Never Called Him Pa

★★★★★ “The Realm of Gods brings to a stunning, riveting conclusion to The Chronicles of Chaos. From Dantess’ discovery of his powers in the powerful prequel, The Game of War, toward this book’s final, inevitable conflict, every page on this journey has been a delight. You will love every chapter, but dread that this roller coaster of a journey is over… now we await a new Chronicle!“—Tom Hall, co-founder, id software; game designer on Wolfenstein 3D and DOOM

★★★★★ “It’s rare for an author to admit that any other author is a ‘one-click’ buy – we’re a competitive lot – but Glen Dahlgren has become a fantasy author whose work I simply must read.”—J. D. Ruffin, author of the bestselling Kingdom War series

★★★★★ “There is always a slightly bittersweet moment when I finish reading a series that I’ve really enjoyed. A part of me never wants it to end, while the rest of me is thoroughly enjoying the fact that I thoroughly enjoyed the series. Such it was with Glen Dahlgren’s Realm of the Gods, the final book in the Chronicles of Chaos series, a thrilling conclusion to a series that has captured the mind and the heart. The characters throughout the series popped off the page in such a realistic, unique way, and the world is one that deserves to be remembered.“—E. G. Stone, author of The Innocence of Death
